WHAT IS THE BUG VAC?
The Bug Vac is an agricultural bug vacuum and mechanical pest-management tool designed for both organic and conventional farming operations.
Using patented capture-and-kill technology, the Bug Vac removes agricultural pests directly from the crop while targeting multiple stages of the pest life cycle—from adult insects to nymphs, caterpillars, and larvae.
Designed to work alongside an existing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, the Bug Vac gives growers another way to reduce pest pressure while potentially reducing reliance on pesticide applications.
BREAKING THE PEST LIFE CYCLE
The Bug Vac is designed to do more than remove adult insects from the crop. Our patented capture-and-kill assembly allows growers to target pests at multiple stages of development.
We're not just targeting the Lygus—we're targeting the nymphs.
We're not just targeting the Diamondback Moth—we're targeting the caterpillar and larvae.
By targeting multiple life stages during field operation, the Bug Vac can help interrupt pest reproduction and reduce future pest pressure.
PESTS WE TARGET
-
Lygus
Targets adult Lygus and nymphs to help disrupt multiple stages of the pest life cycle.
-
Diamondback Moth
Targets caterpillars and larvae in vegetable and produce crops.
-
Flea Beetles
Captures and removes flea beetles directly from the crop during field operation.
-
Cucumber Beetles
Mechanical removal provides growers with another tool for managing cucumber beetle pressure.
-
Aphids
Current field use and ongoing studies are showing reductions in aphid populations.
-
Grasshoppers & Orthoptera
New extensions allow the Bug Vac to target various Orthoptera species in fresh vegetable and legume crops.

ANOTHER TOOL FOR FOOD SAFETY
Several Bug Vac customers are using the machine directly in front of their harvesters as an additional food safety tool.
By mechanically removing insects and unwanted material from the crop before harvest, the Bug Vac provides growers with another layer of protection as fresh produce moves from the field into the food supply.
This application allows the Bug Vac to serve two purposes in the field—supporting pest management throughout the growing season and providing an additional tool at harvest.
CROP-SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS
-
SQUASH GUARDS
Specialized guards are available for squash to help minimize foliage damage while the Bug Vac operates through the crop.
-
ARTICHOKE GUARDS
Crop-specific guards help protect artichoke foliage while allowing the Bug Vac to effectively operate through the field.
-
GRASSHOPPER EXTENSIONS
Newly designed extensions allow the Bug Vac to target various species of Orthoptera, including grasshoppers, in fresh vegetable and legume crops.

MECHANICAL PEST MANAGEMENT IN THE FIELD
One machine. Multiple applications.
The Bug Vac is designed to target a range of agricultural pests across row crops, vineyards, legumes, berries and orchard-style applications.
Its mechanical approach can help growers reduce pest pressure, interrupt insect life cycles and complement existing pest-management programs.
Patented technology. Built for commercial agriculture.
BUILT TO WORK WITH YOUR PEST MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
The Bug Vac is designed to be incorporated into existing pest management programs for both conventional and organic farming operations.
By mechanically removing pests from the crop, growers can add another method of pest control to their current program. Proper use of the Bug Vac can help reduce pest pressure and may reduce reliance on pesticide applications.
The Bug Vac isn't just for organic growers. It's a tool for all farmers.

CONTINUING TO DEVELOP THE BUG VAC
Wild Oak Ag Design continues to test and develop new ways to improve Bug Vac performance across different crops and pest challenges.
Several case studies are currently underway, including continued work with aphids and improvements designed to increase pest capture and kill.
New developments planned for later in 2026 include grasshopper guards, thrip screens, and mite screens designed to be added to existing Bug Vac machines.
Have a unique pest or crop challenge? Wild Oak is always interested in evaluating new applications and designing solutions for growers.
